Firehouse Subs opens in Cary, Seaboard Wine on the move in Raleigh | News & Observer

Firehouse Subs, known for subs on toasted rolls, has opened its third Cary outlet.

The newest sandwich shop is in the Centrum at Crossroads shopping center at 2222 Walnut St.

This is the first restaurant for franchise owner Keith Bell, who plans to open three more Firehouse Subs in the Raleigh-Durham area.

Bell said he looks forward to continuing Firehouse Subs’ commitment to helping public safety organizations through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which has donated more than $1.1 million in grants in North Carolina.

The Cary Firehouse Subs restaurant is open seven days a week, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Inside, the decor reflects the founding family’s decades of fire and police service. It boasts a hand-painted mural depicting a Cary Fire Department engine and two firefighters in full turnout gear in front of the Centrum at Crossroads entrance.

Waverly wine walk

The next Waverly Wine Walk is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Waverly Place off Kildaire Farm Road in Cary.

Select Waverly Place merchants will be sampling red, white and sparkling wines. The cost is a $10 donation to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Make your donation at booths near Gigi’s Cupcakes and Whole Foods Market.

Seaboard Wine is moving

After 33 years in the same spot, Seaboard Wine & Tasting Bar in Raleigh is moving.

In July, the shop will move from its longtime home in Seaboard Station to High Park Village on Whitaker Mill Road.

Piedmont Farm Tour

The 2018 Piedmont Farm Tour will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29.

This year, 45 sustainable farms that produce meat, dairy, mushrooms, fruits and vegetables will be on the tour.

Tour passes purchased in advance are $30 per car for all farms, all weekend. Day-of registration is $35.

The farms are in Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Johnston, Orange, Person and Wake counties.
