This is truly an amazing lineup. Congratulations for all your great
work.
Last year, the funds raised by the concert was used to help develop
the Target Zero Canada program, a program that has researched and is
now communicating the ethics and values of Zero Waste. Zero
Waste is a growing worldwide movement that points to the root cause
of virtually every environmental issue - Waste. Waste of
resources, energy and land can be considered the main cause of
global warming, resource depletion, air, water and land based
pollution as well as species extinction. It is our hope that
when there is a clear understanding of what Zero Waste means, we humans
will be much more able to deal with the real means to mitigate our
environmental challenges. Earth Day Canada has established a
great Zero Waste website at www.targetzerocanada.org

This year, we have a great new program we are getting ready to
launch that should be very impactful in communities all over
Ontario. EcoAction Teams will use the "grassroots"
approach to educate people on environmental issues and solutions
that are closest to them - where they live. EDC will work with
teams of people living in the same neighbourhood in communities around
Ontario to engage them in a process of learning what to do in their own
homes to - save energy, use less, reduce waste, improve their
transportation habits and be more conscience consumers. Neighbours
will mentor neighbours in monthly meetings, facilitated by EDC, that
will create community and hopefully a more aware society,
neighbourhood by neighbourhood. I would like to allocate the
funds generated by the concert the help support - EcoAction Teams.
