Paradox: A statement that may appear to be contradictory but may in
fact be true.
When
in the Hi Tech, magnetics realm of Research and
Upon closer
inspection however it exactly this balance
of oppositional forces that allows for the creation of something new, unique and quite out of
the ordinary. And so it is with the Back To the Dirt CD. There are no electric instruments
recorded, no sonic manipulations just a "documentary " style of capturing a
series of acoustical musical moments woven together to create a tapestry of feelings,
emotions and collective memories. The effect is like looking at an old photo album that is
not yours, You don t know anyone
but their all strangely familiar. Sit back.
Relax. Enjoy.

It
is hard to ground yourself through concrete. Nothing in our evolution has prepared us for
the digital re-volution. Digital technology violates all of our basic instincts.
But re-volution indicates repetition -- that its not new -- its
cyclical in nature and tends to be repeatable. That means we have been here before. Well
then, that must be a paradox, and inconsistency and an illogicality thrust upon us.
It is however, an entirely
different series of digits which separates man from the animals, elevates our status above
the primates, and raises man to the top
of the food chain. The digits, which
provide mankind with biological lift, are the fingers and thumbs of our hands. The
opposing thumb and fingers offer us all the digital dexterity we need to survive in the
90s. It is that juxtapositions that allows us to hold our tools, which have been
intelligized by our brains.
The thumb and opposing fore fingers partnership synergy not
only provides an evolutionary hyperlink to our roots but also contain an acoustic
connection to the sounds of the dirt. Sound is very a power stimulus to humans, and
especially if it is timed in a precise metered tempo, is rich in harmonics, mostly odd.
There is a sound I have grown to love, has an incredible grounding influence, puts me in
touch with my roots, it makes me happy it is the sound of a finger-picking guitar.
The same two opposing digits -- responsible for our ability to keyboard and process data
in a binary format which take us away from our analogue instincts are capable of
the alternating bass style of picking which can bring us right back down the potential of
the dirt. Then we can be truly grounded. Our negative energy can be electro-statically
discharged through the souls of our feet like a sponge osmosisly into the core. We can
become reenergized and refreshed anew.
Guitar-picked folk music always mellows me
out. Now thats a paradox for sure so then we can see that a few
paradoxs in a short essay constitutes a very clear sign to agrees with the statement
that we have been here before. There is a pattern immerging--- It reaches
whatever emotion I own which is called chill out. Let Back to the Dirt bring you there.
Let it inspire you to find that trial of marshmellows , which you dropped a long time ago
to lead you back to your door. Think about
how much of the information you
owned when you were little which that you cannot find today. Long ago, you had far
more intuition, insight, in touch with your emotions, and bordering telepathic when you
were young
. But most of that is gone now. It is all a part of you that has been put
deep down inside and now its time for your gifts to rise to the surface and become useful
take advantage of the skin affect - as they were intended to be.
Be how you need to be. Merging is a
good word, perhaps at some point it will work with digital and that is another
paradox. Try to stay as as you can resist to adopt an emailian
persona a binary digital mentality is so 90's. Back to the Dirt is about
spontaneity, intuition bordering on psychic, sensitivity and
fun. I could tell you more, but you already know the answers.

.. .. Caren drops her tank top, sinks
her back into the beach; She sends her eyes to probe blue skies, far beyond her reach ....
.... Mothers don't
you know that
your Children Sleep in Snow; They pull blankets past their waist, as tears freeze to their
face; Remembering the time when you kissed their face at night; They felt so warm and
loved and everything was right ....
.... On a winters night
my love when the moon is in the breeze; The colored lights will mark the way to the place
I'll wait for thee ....
....Psychedelic architect with
lines etched to her brow; She hides herself behind the clouds confusing it with now. ---
And we say -- You're all right with me babe; If only you could see; Everything you need is
there, babe; You're all right with me.
.... Some sort of mystic cyber
babe is tantalizing me; It is SO the nineties to do her in binary; I want to watch
her lips move so I can see the words; I wonder if she's figured out, Im a
computer nerd....
.... I
always treat her gently When we're
driving in my Bentley; I give her all the gears I've learned to shift through vintage
years ....
.... The incensed oceans of the
world were boiled in degradation; Satan grinned, as mankind sinned the undo of creation
